1871’s Summer Innovation Lab brought together 15 cutting-edge startups, including Bluicity, to tackle pressing challenges in FoodTech and Supply Chain. Over the course of four months, we honed our ideas, networked with industry leaders, and leveraged 1871’s mentorship to solidify our strategies. With support from partners like Accenture, Microsoft, GS1, Ferrero, and others, the program provided an invaluable platform for innovation and growth.

Bluicity’s focus has always been clear: leveraging Industry 4.0 technologies to offer integrated, automated solutions for food traceability and integrity. The lab helped refine this mission, equipping us with the tools and insights to expand our impact across the supply chain ecosystem.

The FoodTech and Supply Chain Summit

The summit marked the thrilling conclusion of this journey, bringing together thought leaders, industry giants, and ambitious innovators. Hosted by 1871, this two-day event featured inspiring fireside chats, insightful panels, and an exciting pitch competition where Bluicity had the opportunity to shine.

Day 1 of the summit was electric. Bluicity was honored to be named one of the top five finalists in the FoodTech pitch category, sharing the stage with incredible companies like NuCicer, Appetronix, bellie, and Earnest Agriculture. Each company presented visionary solutions addressing some of the most pressing challenges in FoodTech.

The Final Pitches

On Day 2, the stakes were even higher. Bluicity pitched alongside a larger audience, including industry executives, investors, and fellow innovators. Our CEO, Bob Burrows, presented Bluicity’s cutting-edge solution that integrates automated food traceability with lean principles to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve food safety.

The competition was fierce, but the atmosphere was one of camaraderie and mutual support. Each pitch highlighted the remarkable potential of startups to drive real change in the FoodTech and Supply Chain sectors.
